This article explains the rules and responsibilities for using the marketplace on CSGOEmpire. For a guide on how trading works, see our P2P Trading Guide.
Contents
Your Responsibilities
When using the marketplace, you are responsible for:
When selling: sending the correct item and marking it as sent within the given time
When buying: accepting the trade on steam and marking the item as received on Empire within the given time
Following this policy and avoiding any attempts to abuse or manipulate
Failed Trades
If a trade is not completed correctly, you risk losing the item and/or the coins
If a seller fails to mark an item as sent, the trade will be canceled, and the buyer will be refunded when the timer expires
If a buyer fails to mark an item as received, the trade will enter the pending payout status automatically when the timer expires
The user who fails their part of a trade will receive a penalty in line with our Trade Punishments
Trade Reversals
Trades can be reversed by either party while it's protected on steam. Doing so returns the item to the seller's inventory. To protect the marketplace and our users, the following rules apply:
Anyone who reverses a trade may be permanently banned from the marketplace.
Seller reverses: the buyer will be refunded.
Buyer reverses: the buyer will not be refunded. The seller gets their item back and keeps up to 100%* of the coins.
If you receive instant credits for a trade and later reverse it, the credited amount will be deducted from your balance. If this results in a negative balance, we may deduct up to 100% of your daily reward pool to cover the outstanding balance. This also applies to any alternate accounts you may have.
*Rare exception: If you were scammed and need to reverse a skin purchase, contact support before reversing it.
If we approve the reversal, the seller will usually keep 30% of the coins (trade value), while the buyer will receive the remaining 70%. Depending on the circumstances, this split may be adjusted. This helps protect the seller if the item's value has dropped, as they'll receive the item back and can resell it immediately.
Every request is reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and reversals will only be approved when we believe they're necessary.
Disputes
To help resolve disputes, we may ask either party to provide a screen recording to determine what happened. Support will review all available evidence and make a decision based on the information available at the time. Our decision is final.
If it's later determined that we screwed up, we'll correct it where possible, including reimbursing any losses resulting from our decision.
Attempts to mislead support or submit edited evidence may result in a permanent marketplace ban.
Special Cases
Scammed items: If we believe a sold item may be stolen or scammed, we may temporarily hold the coins for up to 1 month. This allows enough time to ensure the trade isn't manually reversed by steam support after the normal trade protection period has ended.
User mistakes: If one party makes an honest mistake that results in the other party receiving items or coins they weren't entitled to, we may ask them to either return the item once it's tradable or pay the agreed trade value.
Refusing to cooperate or intentionally taking advantage of another user's mistake may result in a marketplace ban.
Other situations: Not every scenario can be covered here. Where necessary, support may take additional action or make reasonable exceptions to protect users and the marketplace.
